Sometimes life just gets in the way…

My darling baby boy,

I’m so sorry I haven’t written you anything the past couple months. I’ve been having a rough time, and with being back at work, I want to spend all my time with you watching you grow up. It’s been such a big change for us to have a baby that’s finally “mobile”. When you’re awake, you’re crawling around everywhere! I need to make sure I keep up with your blog, and take more pictures because I don’t want to forget any of this. You’re so precious to me, and I’m so ridiculously in love with you. It’s amazing how much a tiny little human has made such a huge impact in my life. I’m so grateful for the person you’ve helped me become. You’ve changed me into a Mommy, and I’m loving every minute of it!

So here’s what you (and everyone) need to be caught up on:

New Bug Milestones!

Rolling over all ways (5 months)

Sitting without assistance (5 1/2 months)

Grabbing your toes (5 1/2 months)

Scoot crawling (6 months)

Going from laying down to sitting (7 months)

Pulling up to stand with help (7 months)

Saying “mamama” and “bababa” (8 months)

Pulling up to stand by yourself (8 months)

Real crawling (8 months)

Walking while holding onto couch or crib (8 months)

I think that’s about it, you’ve grown up so fast and I’m so incredibly proud of you. It seems like each week you learn something new (this week you’re into screaming as loud as you can) and it’s so fun to see everything that you’re learning :)

We started giving you solid food at six months, and you really don’t care. You’re such a boob baby still! You seem to like grown up food (noodles, rice, etc) better than baby food though. And I’ve been trying to home-make all your food, but you usually end up eating what we have, or an organic food pouch thingy. You could go all day without eating any regular food and be content. You love your noms, and need them every 1 1/2 to 2 hours (which is exhausting for me). Thankfully you’ve gotten out of the habit of nursing to sleep which makes me feel better about other people watching you.

You’re sleep is HORRIBLE. Naps are every 2-3 hours during the day, and you usually sleep from 30 mins to an hour ish. You fight going to sleep sometimes, but not very often. Bedtime is usually around 8, and you’re up around 6 every morning. You wake up 47628047629 times during the night though. Sometimes you want a snack, and sometimes just a good Mommy snuggle and you’re back to sleep. I’ve been working on getting you to sleep on your own, so we can start putting you into your crib, but you just LOVE your Mommy snuggles while you sleep. It’s cute and I love snuggling you, but I’d LOVE to have my bed back (and yes, we are safely co-sleeping).

You have quite the flirty personality! You smile at everyone and laugh at everything. You’re so much fun to tickle! You love exploring things. I set up your room so you can crawl around and get toys from everywhere and you have a blast in there. ¬†Sometimes you sit at your toy box for awhile and take things out to check out. You’re favorite thing right now is taking things out of boxes. When you find something you want to explore more “in-depth” you roll around with it chewing on it and looking at it closely. You love to climb/stand on EVERYTHING. Especially me. And as soon as you stand up, you bounce and shake your little booty. We have bounce parties where I bounce with you and you laugh so hard! You love to play peekaboo with Daddy and I, especially when we jump out and try to scare you.

One of my favorite things about you is you’re SO DRAMATIC. You whine over everything. You throw little fits when I take something away or don’t pick you up. It’s hilarious but pitiful at the same time. Like today, I was working out (Wii Fit style) ¬†and you crawled over to the bookshelf and tried to climb up it. I told you no in my “mean Mommy voice” and you sat down and started crying. You then continued to cry while crawling over to me and sat on my feet wanting to be picked up. It was adorable, but you probably thought it was the end of the world. You’ve been so attached to me lately, which makes it hard because I’m back at work. Such a Momma’s boy you are :)

Don’t ever forget how much I love you, even when you’re annoying the crap out of me and I give you to Daddy and lock myself in the bathroom.

Bug goes on Vacation!!

Last week, our friends Jessica and Amado came in town to visit and go on a little vacation. They’ve been here once before (Disneyland in November) and decided that Disneyland was just too amazing and they needed to come back ASAP. Not that we had a problem with that or anything! ;) So we decided on Disneyland, Universal Studios, and an afternoon at the beach. As our first real vacation as a family (besides trips to Fresno which don’t really count), it went really well and we all had an AMAZING time!

Day 1: Disneyland

We sent Amado and Jess off early (Manny had worked a graveyard shift and needed to sleep a little), but met up with them around noon. Bug has been to Disneyland quite a few times before, so we knew he would do well. We got fastpasses for Indiana Jones and Splash Mountain, and then ate lunch at Hungry Bear (YAY guess who goes back to work next week??). After a yummy lunch, we rode Pirates. Lines were pretty long that day, and it was crowded and hot. After Pirates we sent them off to Jungle Cruise while Bug met Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie and got some Noms.
